Kotona

Nyt on reissu päättynyt tältä kesältä. Brittein saaret tuli suurin piirtein kierrettyä. Reissussa oltiin 104 vrk ja maileja kertyi n. 4200. Veneessä kävi paljon vierailevia gasteja, jotka toivottavasti nauttivat reissusta. Kiitokse heille kaikille.

Ensi vuonna tavataan taas.

Now we are home. The British Isles were more or less circumnavigated. The whole trip took 104 days and distance covered was about 4200 nautical miles. We had many visiting deckhands in Duo, thanks to all. Special thanks to Risto, who was onboard the whole trip and hence enabled it.

See you again next year.

Kotisuomessa

First port of call in Finland was Seabear Club harbour Kifskär. Distance covered from Allinge/Bornholm was 391 NM actually the longest leg in this trip. It took us 58 hours and half of that was motoring. Weather was nice and clear all the time especially the nights were beautiful and light with full moon shining from clear sky.

There was one boat except us in Kifskär. The sauna felt like heaven.
Today we do the final stretch to homeport.

Ölannds Södra Udde

On juuri ohitettu (29.8. 1640 Ruotsin aikaa). Tuuli SW/WSW 15-20 kn, meno vielä mukavaa.
Seuraava etappi Visbyn edusta huomenna sunnuntaina ehkä puolenpäivän aikoihin.

We have just passed to Southern end of Oland. Wind is SW/WSW 15-20 kn and sailing is still good. Next waypoint of Visby around noontime tomorrow.

Vauhdilla kotiin

No time for writing as we have been busy travelling homewards. From Ostmahoorn we sailed in one leg to Kiel Kanal and stopped at Rendsburg to drop Timo to the railwaystation and further for flight home.
Early Thursday morning we continued the Canal further north and to the Baltic. Just a couple of hours ago we stopped at Allinge in Bornholm. We will continue tonight or early tomorrow morning towards home and Archipelago Sea to get there before the winds turn northerly.

Kiinni mudassa

Tänään oli oikeastaan viimeinen päivä kanavilla. Meillä on vielä jäljellä Lauwersoogin merisulku. Tullessamme kohti Oostmahornia väylällä oli kunnon mutapaakku/-matala, johon jäimme kiinni. Pääsimme onneksi omin voimin irti.

Huomenna on tarkoitus lähteä jälleen Pohjanmerelle ja kohti Brunsbutteliä ja Kielin kanavaa.

Today has been the last day in the Dutch Canals. Only the Lauwersoog sealock remains. When we were approaching Oostmahorn, we were stuck to the mud, which was in the middle of the fairway. Luckily we managed to get free with our own.

Tomorrow the plan is to go to the North Sea and further to Brunsbuttel and the Kiel Canal.

Edam - Lemmer - Leewaurden - Dokkum

Me kuitenkin käännyimme pohjoiseen menevälle kanavalla, suurin osa meni järville purjehtimaan.
Leewaurdenissa päästiin ihan kaupungin keskustaan, vaikka aika siltojen aukioloajan suhteen meni tiukille.

Tänään ajelimme pienen pätkän (13 NM) Leewaurdenista Dokkumiin. Tuulta tasangolla oli 10 - 14 ms, joten vaikka koneella ajettiin, oli meno kylkimyyryä. Huomenna on tarkoitus mennä Ostmahoorniin odottamaan sääikkunaa Elbelle ja Kielin kanavalle.

Some time has passed since we had the internet for blogging. Now we have crossed the inland lakes Markermeer and Ijselmeer and reached the Friesland, where all the towns are pretty nice. Lemmer is on Ijselmeer and when we started Saturday morning, it looked like the whole population went sailing, most of them towards Ijselmeer as we headed to the north for the Friesian canals.

In Leewaurden we docked quite in the centrum allthough we almost missed the last bridge opening.

Today we only motored a small distance towards Dokkum. The wind in the plains was 10 - 14 ms so motoring wasn't that easy.  Tomorrow we plan to reach Ostmahoorn, where we'll wait for the proper weatherwindow for overnight sail to the Elbe and the Kiel Canal.

Tall Ships Race 2015

When motoring along the Nordzeekanal from Ijmuiden to Amsterdam the amount of vessels small and large increased all the time. Soon we had a couple of tugs touching our pushpit. The Marinas in Amsterdam were packed so we had to join the throng and floated along the canal with thousands of other vessels watching the Tall Ships. Most of the time there was a boat one or two meters from us.

Having seen enough of this we locked out via Oranjesluis to Markermeer, which is half to large inland sea in Holland. After a couple of hours sailing and motoring we arrived to Edam, where we spent the nigth.

Illaksi saavuimme Ijmuideniin Seaport Marinaan. Huomenna on tarkoitus jatkaa Amsterdamiin ja katsoa saammeko satamapaikan ja pääsemme katsomaan Tall Shippejä.

We left the inland waterways and continued along Northsea northwards as the Staande Mastroute was closed south of Amsterdam. First we crossed the Rotterdam entrance with all its traffic, which was very heavy. We had to report to the local VTS (Vessel Traffic Service), which if needed guided the yachts through safely. We tried also sailing, but as the wind was exactly from the back and the wave was reasonable, we uset the engine. In the evening we reached the Seaport Marina in Ijmuiden. Tomorrow we continue towards Amsterdam and hope to find a birth there and to go to see the Tall Ships Race participants.

We have sailed a couple of days the inland waters of Holland. Really this is like archipelago (David hope the spelling is better than pronunciation) sailing at home, even with plenty of wind the sea is slight. The area is the Southwest corner of Holland or Sealand, where the estuaries of Schelde and Maas form wide areas of water. In between there are locks and plenty of commercial traffic. As the yacht locks usualla had a c. 18 metre bridge we had to go with the riverboats. The service was very good and we were admidded in immediately though .

Yesterday Juha and Timo arrived when we finally docked Duo. Today we visited Willemstad and replenished the stock. Willemstad in one of the old fort cities where the marina is in the moat. After that we continued and had to cut the traffic of a motorway by raising up the bridge and continued sailing with beating in a nice 7-10 ms wind. Now we are in pole position for Northsea to continue to Ijmuiden.

Maat vaihtuvat vauhdilla

We left Dover immediately when the harbour gates were opened after the tide was high enough. Crossing the Canal was piece of cake except for one warship, which had to avoid us. We had also a nice sail running and the tide was with us.

When we left Dunkerque at 9 am, we thought to have tide against us for two hours, but for reason or other that turned for four hours. Also the wind was against us so sailing started only very late.  Now we are allready in protected waters in Vlissingen Holland. Tomorrow the target is Willemstad. The Mast Up Route will be decimated a bit, as a train smashed a bridge cutting the route to Amsterdam, but we will look for subsidiary routes.

Morning in Brighton Marina was foggy, which disappeared within an hour. We didn't do any careful tide calculations, only a rough look, and lucky we were. We went with the tide all the time to Dover, 65 NM and 9 hours. In the afternoon the wind went down but the sun came out and it was time for the crew to change to summeroutfit. This was also the first day that we didn't run the heater in the boat at all.

Portshmouth - Brighton

Sadekin lakkasi sopivasti iltapäivällä, joten lähdimme tutustumaan Brightonin nähtävyyksyyn: Palace Pier, The Lanes ja North Laine. Kyllähän Brightonissakin päivä pari kuluisi mukavasti.

We started from Porthsmouth in decent time 8 am allthough according to tidetables we should have started at 4 am to catch the favourable tide. So we had tide against us most of the time, but fortunately it was compensated by 7-8 ms wind from the nose. We arrived at Brighton before 6 pm, but due to silted entrance we couldn't enter until an  hour later when water level was high enough. We utiliced that time well  sailing circle at the Brighton seafront in 10-12 ms wind. That was fun.

Today David arrived bringing Wendy's excellent Dandycake (?). Thanks Wendy. After tea the weather turned nice and we had a walking tour around Brighton: Palace Pier, The Lanes and North Laine.

Plymouth - Weymouth - Portsmouth

Weymouth on kiva rantakaupunki, lempinimi Costa del Dorset. Paljon näkyi lomanviettäjiä.

Weymouthista suuntasimme kohti Isle of Wightia tavoitteen Englannin ja ehkä ainakin Euroopaan purjehduskeskus Cowes.

We have seen many -mouths on our voyage. From Plymouth to Weymouth we sailed almost all the way allthough the rain made visibility sometimes noexistent. Weymouth is known as Costa del Dorset and there was plenty of things happening by the beach.

From Weymouth we headed towards the Isle of Wight Cowes as our destination. Unfortunately there was no room for us as the Cowes Week was on. We ended to Portsmouth, which is also a nice place.

Milford Haven - Plymouth 200 NM

On Thursday the longstanding southerly winds eased due to a high pressure ridge coming in. We left Milford Haven targeting Plymouth. The voyage took 31 hours and was alltogether 200 nm. The old see from Atlantic was around 2 metres high and the wavelength 50-100 metres reminding me from the 2006 crossing to the Caribbean. We sailed almost half of the way and the weather was corgeous and sunny both on Thursday and Friday. There was not much traffic in the Bristol Channel, but when approaching the Land's Edn we startged seeing ships and other yachts.

Plymouth used to be one of the key bases of the Royal Navy and it still accommodate the Roayl Nave Davenport base. There must be over ten marinas and thousands of pleasure boats around.

Weatherbound in Milford Haven

Jo Milford Haveniin tullessa tiesimme olevamme täällä useamman päivän kovan etelätuulen takia. Maanantaina kävimme Cardiffissa. Tiistaiksi ja keskiviikoksi vuorasimme auton ja katselimme Pembrokeshiren nähtävyyksiä. Tiistaina kävimme Fisguardissa, joka on pieni kiva kalastajakylä. Lisäksi kävelimme noin 10 kilometria Pembrokeshire Coastal Pathia, jonka kokonaispituus on n. 300 kilometriä.

Already arriving at Milford Haven we knew that we will be weatherbound a few days due to heavy southerly winds. On Monday we visited Cardiff. Tuesday we rented a car for two days and drove around in Pembrokeshire. Tuesday we visited Fisguard which is a tiny nice fishing village. We also walked along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path for 10 kilometres the total length of which is over 300 km. We also visited St David's, where is the located the oldest cathedral in Britain. Hence it is also a city with its less than 2000 inhabitants. Today we visited Tenby, which is also a nice small fishing village.

Latest weatherforecasts promise westerly winds, which should get us going.

Skipper is related to the Scotts

Having sailed in Scotland we obviously have a fair amount the water of life onboard. It seems though that the portions given to the crew are based on Scottish measures and there are good chances that some of the liquid will be left when Duo arrives home. The crew hasn't mutinied yet though.

Cardiff 3.8.

Villen viikko tuli täyteen. Hyvin nuorimies sopeutui merielämään alkuhankaluuksien jälkeen. Kiitos Villelle osallistumisesta purjehdukseen ja ansiokkaasta kuvauksesta. Me muut lähdimme Villen kanssa yhtä matkaa junalla Cardiffia kohti, josta hän jatkoi lentoasemalle ja me jäimme tutustumaan kaupunkiin.

Kävimme Cardiffin linnassa, jonka ensimmäiset versiot oli rakennettu parituhatta vuotta sitten. Lisäksi kävimme kierroksen Millenium Stadionilla, joka oli rakennettu Cardiff Arms Park stadionin tilalle Welsh Rugby Unionin pyhätöksi. Lauantaina siellä on jälleen 75000 katsojaa, kun Wales kohtaa Irlannin.

It was time for Ville to head home. He became a real seaman despite some early problems. Thanks once more for Ville of the week. We others joined Ville for the train trip to Cardiff to see the City and Ville continued to Heatrow.

First was a visit to Cardiff Castle the first version of which was erected about two thousend years ago.
Secondly we had a tour of Millenium Stadium, which was built to replace the somewhat smaller Arms Park Stadium for the home of Welsh Rugby. Again on Saturday 75000 Welshmen and Irish will come to cheer to their respective teams.

Over the Irish Sea

Due to the positive weatherforecast and approaching lows we left Howth Saturday morning for Wales and Milford Haven. The first six hours the wind was favourable and the tidal stream was with us and we were logging 10 knots over ground for long periods. Reality struck though when both wind and stream turned. The next six hours we struggled with the engine towards our destination. After 20 hours and 120 nautical miles we arrived at Milford Haven in the early morning hours.

Dublin 31.7.

Howth was a very nicer Marina, good abblutions and the HYC clubhouse and bar at our disposal. We took the DART-train to Dublin, where we walked all over the city: Trinity College, the strand of Liffy, Temple Bar and the Old Viking are. Guinness and the Jameson Distillery we skipped though.

torstai 30. heinäkuuta 2015

Kalastusta

Illansuussa ehdime Howth Yacht Clubille.

Ardglass was a nice little place though the harbour wasn't one of the cleanest. In the morning we headed towards Dublin/Howth departure time set by the tides. The sailing was fine and even a yankee boat, who started same time, was left well behind. Soon we though got some other business as a strange noise sounded from the hull. To make sure we don't have anything in the rudder or the propeller we made from the boathook a selfiestick for Ville's camera and videod the underbody, luckiily all was clear and no diving was needed. Late afternoon we arrived at the Howth Yacht Club.

Aamupurjehdus

Huomenna suuntana on Dublin, tarkemmin Howth.

After the restday in Bangor the reality dawned to the crew at 4 am. By 5 am we were allready sailing, though in much better conditions than from Troon to Bangor. We had 6- 10 ms in broad reach. Also the waves were moderate or actually in Met Office language slight.

We arrived at Ardglass by 11 am. Ardglass is still in NI. The lucnh was consumed in local golfclub. Tomorrow the planned destination is Dublin/Howth.

Duo noted in HR-pages

Duo on noteerattu Hallberg-Rassyn nettisivuilla. Joku toinen HR:n omistaja oli ottanut kuvan Crinanin kanavan merisulusta.

Tänään on annettu miehistön levätä ensimmäisen pitkän merimatkan jälkeen ja on pidetty kaupunkipäivä Bangorissa.

Duo has been referred in Hallberg-Rassy pages. Another HR-owner has taken the linked picture in Crinan Canal sea lock.

Today has been a deserved restday for the new crew after the somewhat bumby crossing from Scotland over the North Channel. We have been looking around in Bangor.

Homogenuous crew

Monday was the beginning of returntrip to Finland. But for the new crew it was a little tough. It rained all day and allthough the wind was reasonable, the waves made us feel that we are in a washing machine. We though arrived to Bangor NI  after 11 hours and 70 nautical miles sailing almost all the time.

Touristic path

Matkalla ehdimme käydä New Lanarkissa (maailman perintökohde), näkemisen arvoinen.

Saturday was a touring day as we collected the rental car and drove towards Glasgow on the banks of Firth of Clyde. The beachside small towns resembled the towns south of Los Angeles with the exception that water and air temperature was 10-15 C lower.

Sunday was time for crew change. Leena, Repa and Merja returned to Finland and Anu, Risto and Ville arrived. On our way to the airport we had time to visit New Lanark (World Heritage Site), worth a visit.

Perjantai 24.7. Arran - Troon

Aamulla teimme lyhyen pysähdyksen Holy Island saarella, jossa sijaitsee jonkinlainen meditaatiokeskus. Täältä jatkoimme tyvenessä Trooniin, mistä löytyi suojaisa satamapaikka meihistön vaihdolle. Kaupunkiin tutustuttiin jalan ja nautittiin oikeat englantilaiset iltapäiväteet.

In the morning we anchored of Holy Island, where is located a meditation centre. We continued in calm weather towards Troon, which offered us a well protected birth during the crew change.
In the town we enjoyed the Proper English Afternoon Tea.

Torstai 23.7. Arran

Torstai oli Arranin päivä. Ensi purjehdimme Tarbertista Loch Aranzaan Arranin saarelle.

Loch Aranzasta suuntasimme Arranin itäpuolelle Lamlash Harbouriin.

Thursday was the day for Arran Island. First we sailed from Tarbert to Loch Aranza in Arran. Here we planned to visit the Arran Distillery, which it turned out had closed down their operation.

From Loch Aranza we sailed to the east side of Arran to Lamlash Harbour. The gusts were sometimes so heavy  that we had to shorten the sail a fair bit.

Keskiviikko 22.6. Tarbert/Mull of Kintyre

Keskiviikkona jouduimme vähän odottelemaan kanavasta ulospääsyä, kun pari muutakin venettä otettiin kanssamme mereen. Crinanin kanavan läpikulku kesti puolitoista vuorokautta, joten keskinopeudeksi tuli 6 merimailia vuorokaudessa.

Tarbert vetää melkein vertoja Tobermorylle Mullin saarella.

On Thursday we had to wait for the exit from the Canal as a couple of other boats were taken out to the see
together with us. Traversing the Crinan Canal took us 1,5 days so average speed was 6 NM per day. The Canal was well worth the visit.

At see we took out the sails pretty quickly allthough the wind was weak. As our destination Tarbert was only 8 miles of we had plenty of time to sail.

Tarbert is a small idyllic town in the Mull of Kintyre with a sheltered harbour. Tarbert almost equals Tobermory in the isle of Mull.

Crinan Canal

Crinanin kanaali yhdistää Sound of Juran Loch Fyneen ja lyhentää matkaa Glasgowsta Skotlannin länsirannikolle merkittävästi.

The Crinan Canal connects Sound of Jura to Loch Fyne and shortens the voyage from Glasgow to the West Coast of Scotland considerably. The Canal is 9 NM long and has 14 manual locks except the sealocks which are hydraulically operated.
We spend almost two days to drive through the canal.

21.7. Oban - Crinan

Monday morning was once more time for sailing. The wind was from good direction and right strength so fun we had until we came to the narrows where tidal stream runs upto 8 knots in spring tides. Luckily the wind wasn't too heavy so the tide against wind didn't generate too high waves. Though we managed to have Speed over Ground more than 12 knots.

In Crinan we locked through the sea locks pretty quickly. The place looked so nice that we stayed overnight there.

18.-19.7. Oban

Obanissa tutustuttiin lauantaina jo toisen kerran tislaamoon. Kipparin viskilasikokoelma karttui taas merkittävästi. Naisväki jäi kaupunkia katselmeaan, mutta miesväki lähti veneelle. Illalla istuttiin Wide Mouthed Frog - ravintolan kuistilla hienossa auringonpaisteessa.

The skipper had opportunity to visit the Oban Distillery for the second time and hence the whisky glass collection in Duo improved. In the evening we dined in the marina restaurant, the Wide Mouthed Frog and sat in the patio watching sunset, which we hadn't seen for ages..

Sunday was time for the crew change, the youngsters were taken to the airport and Leena and Reijo came to the boat. Immediately we went for another visit to Oban and also to return the rental car.

16.-17.7. Loch Slapin - Tobermory - Dunstaffnage Bay

Metoffice was promising some exceptionally high winds for the time of July, so we started planning our return to Oban/Dunstaffnage Marina. Thrusday morning Loch Slapin was mirror calm so we motored alltheway to Ardnamurchan Point, where we got a good sailing wind to Tobermory. We arrived together with the Dutch ghost ship the Flying Dutchman. The harbour was almost full, but the harbour master pointed us to the hammerhead. The night was a bit rocky as the pontoon and the boat were moving unsyncronously.

Friday morning we continued once more together with Flying Dutchman in 10 - 15 ms headwinds along the Sound of Mull. We didn,t see any other pleasureboats as MetOffice had issued a gale warning, which materialized only Friday nite when we were safely docked in Dunstaffnage Marina. The wind was 14-15 ms topping 20 ms in gusts. We had some line and fender excercices to keep Duo safe.

15.7. Mallaig - Loch Slapin/Isle of Skye

The Old Forgen edustalta ajoimme tyvenessä lyhyen matkan Mallaigiin muonatäydennystä varten. Miehistä kävi myös katsomassa The Jacobite höyryjunan saapumisen asemalle. Mallaigista jatkoimme purjeilla Isle of Skyen Loch Slapiniin, jossa saimme olla yksinämme ankkurissa. Maisemissa ei taaskaan ollut valittamista.

From the mooring of The Old Forge we motored the short distance to Mallaig for resupplies and the crew used the opportunity to see the Jacobite steam train to arrive at the station. That is the Harry Potter train that the skipper together with Anne and Risto took a few weeks back. From Mallaig we sailed to Loch Slapin in the Isle of Skye, where we anchored all alone. The scenery once more couldn't be blamed.

14.7. The Old Forge finally

Tobermorysta jatkoimme pohjoista kohti. Pahamaineinen Ardnamurchan point oli meille leppeä. Mallaigiin asti saatiin purjehdittua ja sieltä koneella Inverie Bayhin The Old Forgen poijuihin.

From Tobermory we continued north pass the scary Ardnamurchan Point, which was tame this time. We managed to sail all the way to Mallaig and from there with engine to Inverie Bay and picking up the moorings of The Old Forge. The food was delicious, weather was nice and the environment typically Scottish. Our local source informed that also the Times had recently recommended the Old Forge.

Uutispimennossa - Beyond the reach

Anteeksi kaikille blogin lukijoille, olimme villissä pohjoisessa eli Ardnamurchanin niemen pohjoispuolella, missä puhelimet eivät toimi netistä puhumattakaan. Nyt olemme palanneet "kotisatamaan" Dunstaffnageen, josta taas voin raportoida. Palaan pikaisesti asiaan.

Sorry about the delay in blogging. We have been in the Wild North beyound Ardnamurchan Point, where no phones work not to mention the internet. We will report shortly the happenings of the week.

Tobermory again

As to refresh old memories we headed towards Tobermory. To start there was no wind and at the end 5-6 ms headwind, the tides were though with us all the time. The weather otherwise was typical: Scottish mist occasionally. When we arrived the harbourmaster said that nothing is certain except soon it will rain or the sun will shine. The most common words used by Metoffice in their marine forecasts are OCCASIONALLY or POOR.

But after a quarter of an hour the sun came out and we had the loveliest evening of the summer.

Back in Business

Yesterday Merja and Saku flew via London to Edinburgh, where Pekka and the crew was allready for flight home. R and T had arrived earlier and were waiting at the airport. Drive to Dunstaffnage took some four hours along familiar roads. In marina Duo was waiting in pole position tanks full and stores filled.
Weather was typical Scottish, light rain.
After return of rental car target for today is the allways nice Tobermory.

Oban again

Yesterday we skipped Iona due to rainy weather. The sailing was also a dissapointment. We only had the waves but very little wind. In Kerrera Sound we had a nice run and as also the sun came out, we had a very nice finish for the week.

Thanks for Asbjörn, Jamu and Jussi for the nice week.

Mallaig - Staffa - Bunessan

Nyt alettiin seurata vuoden 2006 jälkiä. Eilen ajettiin Mallaigista, 1/3 koneella, 2/3 purjehtien, Staffan kautta Bunessaniin Camas Tuath lahdelle ankkuriin.

We are now on the tracks of 2006 voyage. We left Mallaig yesterday for Staffa and further to Bunessan, where we anchored in Camas Tuath bay. Staffa is basalt island with a very large cave, where we tried to fit Duo in 2006.
Today we left Camas Tuath in a rainy weather, due to which we also skipped Iona. But now few hours later the weather is excellent.

Rum - Mallaig - Inverie - Mallaig

Eilen oli tarkoitus mennä Loch Nevisiin Inverien kylään, missä on Britannian pääsaaren hankalimmin saavutettava pub Old Forge Inn.

Yesterday we planned to dine in the most remote pub of mainland Britain, Old Forge Inn in Inverie. On the way we stopped at Mallaig for resupplies and the crew saw the Harry Potter train depart Mallaig station. After an hours motoring we reached Inverie only to realise that the pub is closed on Wednesdays. So back to Mallaig we came for dinner.

Tobermory - Rum/Loch Scresort

Duo ohitti lopulta Ardnamurchan Pointin, josta alkaa villi pohjoinen. Rummissa suoritettiin ensimmäinen tämän kauden ankkurointi. Castle Kinloch katsottiin ulkopuolelta.

When leaving Tobermory, we saw our new neighboughs: cruise ship Magellan had anchored in the Sound of Mull. The voyage to Rum was motoring all the time due to nonexcistent wind. We finally also passed the Ardnamurchan, from where the wild noth is beginning. Castle Kinloch was unfortunately viewed from outside only.

Tobermory

Uuden miehistön kanssa käytiin kaupassa täydentämässä muonavarastot. Puolenpäivän maissa lähdettiin vastavirtaan ja vastatuuleen, mutta koska molemmat olivat sopiva, purjehdittiin melkein koko matka Tobermoryyn. Sääkin oli parhaimmasta päästä Skotlannissa havainnoituja. Huomenna on tarkoitus jatkaa pikkasen pohjoiseen päin.

With the new crew we replenished the foodstores. After noon we loosened the ropes and sailed alltheway
to Tobermory regardless the headwind and the opposing stream. Weather was quite OK compared to some we have experienced so far.

sunnuntai 21. kesäkuuta 2015

Loch Aline - Oban

Loch Alinesta siirryimme lyhyen matkan Obaniin Dunstaffnagen marinaan, jossa tapahtui miehistön vaihto.

Täällä tislaamo on ihan keskellä kaupunkia, missä tietenkin kävimme. Muutkin palvelut ovat varmaan parhaimmasta päästä, mitä täältä Skotlannin länsirannikolta löytyy.

From Loch Aline we sailed to Oban, note we sailed all the way. We found a place in Dunstaffnage Marina, which is 3 miles from City centre. Here we had a rental car and took Anne and Risto to Edinburgh airport. Thanks for the nice week and good rest for Risto, who has been with from the very beginning. My old colleagues Asbjörn, Jamu and Jussi arrived.

Oban is the capital of Argyle and the Isles and hence the best services in the West Coast. Also the distillire we visited is in the middle of the city.
